SOTD: Dry The River – Gethsemane

There is an art to good songwriting, and Dry The River have nailed it. Gethsemane is stunning, from its soft, stripped back opening through to the monumental crescendo, the song builds acoustically and lyrically, with all the emphasis on the pain and the yearning in Peter Liddle’s voice. The London-based indie band are poised to follow up 2012s break through Shallow Bed with Alarms in the Heart, and if the album continues to be as gorgeous as Gethsemane, it will definitely rank highly in my books.
